They create a safe, non-judgmental environment that people living with HIV/AIDS don't always have.

Admission, Referral and Payment

All patients of Cedar Valley Hospice receive the same level of care regardless of age, gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, or ability to pay.

Admission Criteria

  • Persons with a life expectancy of six months or less
  • Persons in the last phases of any illness, including heart disease, cancer, ALS, Alzheimer’s, AIDS, neurological and renal diseases, chronic lung disease, and other end-stage organ diseases
  • Both the doctor and patient agree to the need for care that provides comfort, not curative, treatment of the disease

Making a Referral

Anyone can make a referral by calling the Cedar Valley Hospice office nearest them. Referrals may be made by family members, friends, clergy, doctors, nurses, or other healthcare professionals. After referral, the patient and family is contacted to arrange an informational or admission meeting.

Paying for Hospice Care

Cedar Valley Hospice care is available to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance companies cover the costs of hospice services. Community contributions assure care for those who cannot pay and for costs not covered by insurers.

"There was a representative(s) from Cedar Valley Hospice at the funeral home to offer sympathy and support. The Waverly office sent a card and followed up for one year with grief support with home visits and notes. That all meant so much. They were very supportive. That would be the best word to describe Cedar Valley Hospice, along with compassionate."
