Event and Donor Specialist
Job Type:  Full Time (1.0 FTE)
Hourly- Non-Exempt
Reports to:  Development Director

Cedar Valley Hospice is a mission driven, not-for-profit organization serving 15 counties with offices in Waterloo/Cedar Falls, Grundy Center, Independence and Waverly, Iowa. Our experienced and professional staff provide the highest quality, compassionate care while focusing on making each moment matter for the patient and family.  We are currently seeking an Event and Donor Specialist to join our well-respected team.


The Event and Donor Specialist is responsible for assisting with the planning and execution of fundraising activities as well as maintaining the donor database.  Hours will generally be Monday through Friday 8:00am-4:30pm with the ability to work a flexible schedule when needed, according to agency events and other needs.  Position requires walking, standing and sitting.  Some lifting may be required. 


Responsibilities:
1. Assists the Development Director in identifying and implementing donor cultivation and fundraising strategies.
2. Participates in fundraising activities as assigned by the Development Director. 
3. Assists the Development Director in planning and executing annual giving campaigns and fundraising events. 
4. Assists with the development and production of printed and promotional materials related to fundraising.
5. Secures sponsorships for agency events as assigned.
6. Assists the Development Director with committee meetings and special events related to fund raising activities.
7. Schedules and communicates with volunteers working on development related activities.
8. Records all donations in the donor database and prepares donor acknowledgements within organizational standards.
9. Manages donor database, ensuring necessary information is viable for marketing and communications, including writing and running queries, reports and letters.
10. Organizes and maintains the development storage area.
11. Participates as an active and contributing member of the Advancement Team.
12. Assumes other responsibilities as designated.


Qualifications:
1. College degree required with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study preferred.
2. Three years experience in fundraising activities including donation solicitation, event planning and donor communications preferred.
3. Experience working with a donor database preferred.
4. Excellent written and verbal communications skills required.
5. Ability to work easily and effectively with a wide range of people including individual prospects, board members, volunteers, and staff.
6. Excellent customer service and organizational skills required.
7. Experience working in a team environment preferred.
8. Current Iowa driver’s license and reliable vehicle required.
