Mary Nott Swenson
As told by Maureen Hanson, daughter
Â
Last October, our mother, Mary Nott Swenson, suffered a brain aneurysm followed by a significant brain bleed, and she passed away a few days later. She had been healthy and independent until that time and knowing that she was about to die when we had been looking forward to having her in our lives for several more years was very difficult for all of us. We are so thankful that we were given the time to say goodbye, and that mom was in such a beautiful and peaceful place as we shared our last words with her.Â
Â
I cannot begin to express how grateful we were and continue to be for the support Mom received at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home. The care and love shared with our mom – and with all of us – by the nursing staff was extraordinary. It felt like a cool, refreshing breeze each time someone came in to check on her. We are forever indebted for the kindness that was shared with Mom during the dying process. My brothers, sister, and I thanked God frequently for the compassionate angels He sent to walk with us through those days.Â
One of our mom’s greatest wishes was to die in her sleep. She did not want to linger on for months and years as so many of those closest to her had done. I believe, had she known in advance what the Cedar Valley Hospice Home would be like, she would have approved of being there for a few days. Thank you for making her death as peaceful and loving as it could be.Â
